Two clients of our criminal lawyer appeared in Municipal Court in Montreal during the same week on charges of shoplifting. Charges were laid under Section 334 of the Criminal Code. Both of them wished to avoid having a criminal record for very different reasons:
one of them did volunteer work for various agencies, while the other one was a student. Both cases were settled quickly, on two Court dates about 6 weeks apart.
Lawyer XavierCormier’s representative negotiated with the Prosecutor. An agreement was concluded according to which the clients would make a $ 400 charity donation, and the lawyers suggested to the Judge to grant the defendants an absolute discharge. Therefore this is how the cases were settled.
Certain clients do not receive such a sentence. See notice.
