Mr. Xavier Cormier, a criminal defense lawyer, received a request for help from a lawyer colleague who could not manage to find a solution for a taxi driver who was risking losing his driver’s licence three days later.
The driver had violated a section of a regulation by charging extra fees to a customer. This violation could have entailed the driver losing his licence for a minimum of three months. Mr. Cormier reviewed the regulation in depth and found that a minute amendment to the law had been made during recent months, which meant that the offence committed by the driver no longer caused him to automatically lose his licence. The driver was able to keep his licence and go on working.
It is rare that such an amendment to the law can be discovered and therefore avoid a penalty, but very often, only a criminal defence lawyer can do this. Read the notice.
