A client represented by criminal lawyer Xavier Cormier had been charged with using a counterfeit document (Section 368 Criminal Code of Canada). Her status in Canada and her occupation were such that a criminal record would have caused her disproportionate harm. Mr. Cormier discussed the case with the Prosecutor. During the suggestions over sentencing, the lawyers asked the Judge to grant her an absolution, which the Judge accepted.
