Shoplifting is often an offence that our clients commit during a stressful period of their lives. For instance, a teacher was arrested in Montreal after stealing merchandise in a department store. She was charged with theft in accordance with Section 334 b ii) of the Criminal Code.
This client’s career would have been in jeopardy if she had been convicted, since her employer checked for criminal records. Our criminal lawyer therefore asked the client to undergo certain therapeutic procedures in order to convince the Judge she was rehabilitated. Our client also provided documents proving that her legal background was checked her employer. The Prosecutor agreed with our lawyer’s suggestion to grant our client an absolute discharge. The Judge also agreed and the client therefore avoided having a criminal record.
Not all our clients reach these results. See notice.
